As the say
ing goes a win is a win. The Celtics beat Cleveland 76-72 last night in Boston to take game one in an ugly NBA professional playoff basketball game. How did they do it when Ray Allen did not score a single point. Paul Pierce scored only a mere four points. It was the big man Kevin Garnett who penetrated the glass scoring 28 points and snared 8 rebounds. The knock on Garnett was that he was a great player but couldn't do it when it counted most. Only a fool would say that after last night's performance. He was aggressive and kept his team in the game with his usual high intensity demeanor. Joe Smith and Ben Wallace tried to cover Garnett for most of the game but their efforts came up short. Garnett had 16 first half points but saved the best for last with two important baskets in the final minutes to seal the win.
It also didn't hurt that "King Lebron James" had one of his worst games ever as a pro. James sored only 12 points and was missing layups that were so bad it looked as if he was doing it on purpose. His missed three point attempt late in the game was forgivable but his lame finger roll that would have tied the game with 8.5 seconds left was laughable. I just could not believe that was Lebron James I was watching. Aside from KG, the stars were just flat out not aligned tonight. Are Pierce, Allen and James that worn out from their previous hard fought series victories or did they forget this was the playoffs?
All I could say is unbelievable! Don't get me wrong I"m glad Boston won but they better star putting together some of the effort that had Bostonians believing banner #17 was quite possible, straighten it out fellas.
