According to John Clayton (ESPNEWS):

Freshly released All-Pro Running Back Shaun Alexander is telling former teammates that he has "potential opportunities" with the New England Patriots!  A Sleeper need for this Patriots football team is a Maroney insurance policy.  Why ignore that this problem exists?  I believe Bill Belichick should and possibly will address this need in the middle rounds of this weekend's NFL Draft (very deep talent pool at tailback!) as well as adding an established veteran, insert Alexander. 

In other New England Free-Agent news, Butch Stearns is reporting a little scoopage of his own this morning.  He is reporting that Ty Law is close to finalizing a deal with the Patriots!  This could be more confirmation on what I was told back in late February.
