It's playoff time now that this memorable and magical season came to an end last night with the Celtics ripping the New Jersey Nets 105-94.
It was the Leon Powe show that scored a career high 27 points while adding 11 rebounds for his 6th double-double of his career. Kevin Garnett scored eight points in 14 minutes while Paul Pierce scored seven in 17 and Ray Allen had three in 18. The starters played most of the first and third quarters and sat out all the second and fourth quarters. Rajon Rondo sat this one out. He was honored at halftime with the "Sixth Star" award and deservedly so in this his coming out season. He has been nothing short of terrific during his second season in the Association.
The Boston Celtics led the league this year with 66 wins but it's obvious these guys have their eyes on the bigger prize. Banner #17 is there for the taking and they certainly have proved to be a force. I love the way coach Doc Rivers HAS HANDLED THIS TEAM BY MAKING SURE EVERYONE GOT SOME RUN while key guys enjoyed their PROPER REST. The Celtics will face the Atlanta Hawks in the first round of the playoffs. Boy that had a nice ring to it. They seem quietly confident but Pierce said it best : "We'll enjoy it tonight. But we're a team on a mission starting tomorrow." Gotta like that! See Ya in the C's Chat and Forums for more Playoff discussion.
