Round 1: Pick 7: Branden Albert - OL - Virginia
Height: 6-5
Weight: 309
40: 5.17
> The current hot choice; and I’m going with the crowd. Albert makes too much sense for the Patriots here at 7. He can eventually take over the often injured Stephen Neal’s spot and he can come in and compete to start at RT. If the Patriots track record holds true, they like to pay the players on the offensive and defensive lines rather then a skill position player.
Round 2: Pick 52: Charles Godfrey - CB - Iowa
Height: 5-11
Weight: 207
40: 4.44
> I’ve been a big fan of Godfrey for a while now and too me he is the perfect fit for the Patriots scheme. He’s big, physical, and is sneaky quick. The only knock on Godfrey is that he could be one of those “workout warrior” players who never live up to their billing. However, I feel that Godfrey is the 5th ranked CB in this class and the Patriots would be extremely fortunate to see him fall to 62.
Round 3: Pick 69: Jason Jones - OLB - Eastern Michigan
Height: 6-5
Weight: 273
40: 4.74
> A nice prospect who can play either DE or OLB. Jones is very quick and has the potential to be an elite pass rushing OLB. Jones, is a terrific tackler; however he did not go up against elite competition. I will say that I
believe Hobson will play on the inside, maybe with Adalius Thomas, and then Vrabel on the outside. Jones has the tools to be a better pro then the likes of Groves, Gholston, and Long.
Round 3: Pick 95: Dexter Jackson - WR - Appalachian St.
Height: 5-9
Weight: 182
40: 4.37
> Jackson brings a lot of versatility to the game. He’ll come in and be a dynamic KR and PR; which will let Welker actually take some plays off. Jackson, averaged 22.6 yards per catch, and will fill the void of the deep threat. However, don’t look for him to help out too much in the WR game at first, but with Moss being 31 years old, Welker being a slot WR, and Gaffney heading for FA next season; he could find himself seeing a lot of action at the WR spot next season.
Round 4: Pick 126: Cory Boyd - RB - South Carolina
Height: 6-0
Weight: 213
40: 4.51
> Nice prospect. He has the best hands out of any RB in this draft. Will eventually take over Faulk's role.
Round 5: Pick 158: Antwaun Molden - CB - Eastern Kentucky
Height: 6-0
Weight: 198
40: 4.39
> Great size, nice hips, playmaker. We'll find a spot for him.
Round 6: Pick 190: Letroy Guion - DT - Florida St.
Height: 6-3
Weight: 303
40: 5.36
> Mike Wright is a solid player, however, he is a free agent next season and it's time for the Patriots to get an impact backup they can rotate in more behind Wilfork.
Round 7: Pick 223: John Sullivan - C - Notre Dame
Height: 6-3
Weight: 301
40: 5.32
> Good backup center prospect. Charlie Weis roots.
Notes: I did make some questionable picks but I feel strongly on every single one of them so if you a question concerning a pick just ask me. Also, not every pick is flashy like you guys would like but I feel this draft is very realistic.
