Half way through the preseason, and the Cs are starting to round into shape, winning their last 3 games after dropping the opener in Hidalgo. Here's a look at how they're progressing, keeping in mind one thing: it's only the preseason!
Rondo: only four games in, and already there's heavy static in blogland, wondering why Rondo isn't dropping triple doubles, still can't seem to shoot very well, and, well, isn't Rondo-ing people. Truth be told, Rondo's been doing everything Doc wants, playing solid, non-gambling defense and focusing his energy more on getting the team in its sets and less on getting to the rim or practicing his jumper during the games. As Doc points out in today's Globe,
“He really wants it,’’ Rivers said of Rondo. “We knew that before. But the difference this year is he is doing it all the right way. He’s leading, he’s not gambling on defense, he’s executing offensively."
So, there you have it, the transformation of Rondo continues, with most of the real work taking place under the hood. So far, so good. Oh, and for the non-believers, Rondo just Rondo'd the Nets on Tuesday, dropping an 18/9/13 line, while absolutely dominating the 4th quarter and almost single-handedly bringing the Cs back from a 14-point 3rd quarter deficit and leading them to the win. The Cs kick off their 2009 preseason schedule against the Houston Rockets Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m. EST in Hidalgo, Texas, in the first of eight preseason contests before the season opener on October 28th against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Even though this season is shaping up to be another championship caliber endeavor, the Cs still have some questions to answer. Here are a few of the storylines to watch in the next 3 weeks.

I just want to share with our faithful readers that our boy Matt Hume was on this story about Danny Ainge looking into an Amare Stoudemire trade possibility at least a couple weeks before WEEI and the other media outlets reported it yesterday. Check the link and that will serve as proof that our insiders are on the level. Mr.Hume shared this rumor on Feb.3rd. For those of you sticking by us thanks so much for your support and trust me we will keep bringing the news and rumors as they come up. This site is for us to keep aware of what's going on with our beloved sports teams and some other tid bits of information strictly for your entertainment and for you to enjoy.

Doc Rivers is sounding like a man preparing for personnel movement involving his squad. His usual pre-trade deadline speak seems to differ slightly from what we have read from him in the past. Speaking to Marc J. Spears, Doc goes through the relationship details when it revolves around making roster additions/subtractions with Danny Ainge. The Celtics Coaching Doctor would not discuss specifics but at the same time let it be known that something was going on and a maneuver from "The Range" would not be at all surprising. We the fans know the Celtics and President Danny Ainge need to make moves here before the end of business on the 19th, Glenn Rivers knows it, Dan "The Trading Man" knows it and it may be inevitable that the team at the very least signs one or two free agents and if possible makes a minor deal or 2 which would properly shape the roster for defense of it's 2008 NBA Championship. Here at NESB I received word before Christmas that Ainge was already fully entrenched in trade inquiries, considering the team's weaknesses and the fact that Danny has put in major work with various opposing GMs in recent months, my money is on a transaction going down. This post in our Celtics Forum outlines the teams and players under consideration for future agreements...
- Just following up on a fresh news and rumors subject I published on Sunday, more than one Phoenix official has contacted the Boston Celtics within the past week and it has been tipped off to me that one of those Suns Front Office members have conveyed a few points of our interest to Team President Danny Ainge. Point 1, Grant Hill is off the table in the smaller scale trade talks I referred to in my Feb. 8th article. Point 2, The Suns who originally passed up the opportunity to draft Rajon Rondo are now requesting him in a few trade scenarios when the talk turns to Amare Stoudemire and the Brazilian PG Leandro Barbosa. The 3rd and final breaking point relayed to me was this, Phoenix Boss Steve Kerr will only consider offers for Amare that include the names Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo as deal centerpieces. The wishful thinking trade check I floated out there last weekend of Kendrick Perkins, 2 Number Ones and a host of young talent for Stoudemire and Matty Barnes will not get it done. On the other hand the proposal of mine in which Ray Allen, a 2011 #1 and J.R. Giddens go to the land of the Suns for Amare and Barnsie might have legs with green nylon on them. The last resort option for Ainge if he values the ability of Stoudemire that greatly is to entice and induce Kerr and Phoenix Majority Owner Robert Sarver with a package consisting of "Rockin Rondo" and a mix of future draft selections, prospects and expiring contracts by the free agent summer of Two Thousand and Ten. If and it is an enormous if, Danny will move Rondo in any move to Phoenix he will without a doubt demand "One of his guys" who is 6-3 Leandro Barbosa. Until now Leandro has along with Grant Hill been off of Kerr and Sarver's trade block. There is nothing of any proportion imminent in Boston/Phoenix dialogue, due to Boston's current salary and roster predicament a small dealing between the 2 would be more realistic at this point and time.

11 points was all the Boston Celtics could muster in the fourth quarter of last evening's game against the Houston Rockets. We all know that's just not going to get it done.We already know that the Rockets are a bona fide playoff contender with stars Yao Ming, Ron Artest, and to top it off, Tracy McGrady didn't even play.
