According to the Calgary Herald and Hockey Buzz Hogwash, your Boston Bruins and their General Manager Peter Chiarelli is in hot pursuit of Edmonton Oilers Forward, Erik Cole. The reported package the Oilers are seeking consists of Wing Man Vladimir Sobotka and Defenseman Matthew Hunwick. I have been told that instead of Chiarelli giving up one of his better young D-Men in Hunwick he could include a second or third round future draft pick to make a deal work between the two ice hockey teams. Note that I would not agree to move Matty H. without Erik first coming to terms on an affordable extension that fits the needs of both team and player (The six-two 30 yr. old Erik Cole is a free agent at the conclusion of the 09 season).
This is precisely the type of rumbling that I want reverberating through the ice-maker of rumors prior to the NHL Trade Deadline. It is a deal that should be strongly considered since it is one of the few possibilities to add the final piece of our playoff roster puzzle without parting with one of our fine young skaters. The scuttlebutt is that scouts from both organizations are stalking one another's teams as well as their respective minor league affiliates which adds the old fuel to the fire on ice that a trade could be in the works. We Black and Gold Heads should all stand and applaud a rumor not including the likes of Phil Kessel and Milan Lucic!
