The Boston Bruins leading scorer, forward Marc Savard will miss four to six weeks having been placed on the long term injured reserve list with a broken left foot. Trent Whitfield has been called up from AHL Providence in an emergency move by the team. Savard has been their leading scorer for the past three seasons and has seven points in the seven games out of the gate.

The Bruins wingman and "swingman" Milan Lucic will miss four to six weeks after having surgery on his right index finger. The injury happenned during Friday night's 3-0 victory in Dallas. Immediately, Chuck Kobasew was traded to Minnesota clearing cap space and three farm hands were recalled for their experience, physical style of play and an obvious roster shakeup. Credit general manager Peter Chiarelli for his swift and shrewd handling of what could have been a situation that spiraled out of control quickly. Vladimir Sabotka, Brad Marchand, and Guillaume Lefevrbe will now provide the much needed urgency this team seemed to be lacking as they battle for playing time. These players are noted for the way they throw their weight around and also their gritty playing attitudes.

The team is 3-4 with their next game at home against the Nashville Predators on Wednesday at 7:00 PM.

The Boston Bruins have resigned the heart and pulse of the team, Forward Milan Lucic to a 3 year contract extension.  When watching the Bruins and witnessing a Lucic fight it's almost a natural to say -- here he goes again.  Other teams must be wary when they see Boston on it's schedule.
