The NHL's top two teams faced off at the Garden with former Bruins captain Joe Thornton making his 1st return to the Garden in the only meeting of these two teams this season. It seemed fitting he scored a goal in his team's 5-2 victory over Boston in an extemely physical contest which is not what the ailing Bruins need right now.
Petteri Nokelainen took a stick to the face in the 1st period, and the Globe is reporting he had to go to the hospital for a right eye injury. Chuck Kobasew hurt his knee in the 2nd period and attained an upper body injury in the third.
How they manage to keep winning despite the loss to the Sharks is very telling that this year's team has matured to the point where they have learned to deal with adversity.Micheal Ryder is still recovering from a fractured bone in his face and Aaron Ward has been fighting the flu bug.
They will be off until Friday when they take on the New Jersey Devils at 7:00 pm.
