The Bruins missing six regular players still made the Washington Capitals work for a win to tighten the race for the top seed by nine points. Alexander Semin and Mike Green scored the Capitals points while Marc Sevard scored the B's lone goal on a power play to keep the game within reach. The loss snapped afour game winning streak for Boston.
These Capitals will be a threat
and the two teams will meet again on January 27 in Boston which will surely feel like a playoff game as this one did.
Semin scored with eight minutes left in the third and the Bruins could not answer back. Savard put them ahead 1-0 in the second period but the Capitals went after Thomas all night knowing he usually plays well against them but it was Semin who got him with some superior speed skating and a wicked shot he couldn't glove or knock away.
Injuries will do in most teams and the Bruins are dealing with theirs now. Better now than later.
