Bruins - Articles & Opinions

The Bruins are off to a rocky start this season but that may not be a bad thing. Last season they were very impressive but they expected more than what they achieved by season's end. They have been hit hard by the injury bug, but it is early and this could prove to work in their favor down the road. Anything can happen and by already having to call up guys from Providence it shows that they have to try and be on top of their game always. There is no room for content, and it seems as if this year's squad has learned that lesson early.

Zdeno Chara, Matt Hunwick, and Mark Stuart all put in extra time on the ice before and after practice. That is a sign of players who want to improve and get better. Just another way of staying focused. Matt Kalman of ESPN has a nice piece on how the team is doing just that.

Tim Thomas had 40 saves in the B's 2-1 victory over the Islanders on Thursday and they will travel to Washington to face off against the Capitals whom they loss to on December 10th.

Since that loss they have won seven straight on the road. bosThese are not the same old Bruins. This team is fire and brimstone on ice.

Thomas the All-Star credits his defense for keeping everything right in front of him so that his vision was clear on his 40 save night. That's humility in it's rarest form.

In 44 games the B's are 33-7 playing well both at home and away. Simply solid. The Capitols have played 45 games and are 28-14.

Sometimes it's hard to remember how young this team is with the success they have been having, but if anyone deserves it, why not them and their fans.

bruins_logoBy beating the Red wings 4-1 on Saturday night for their ninth straight home win they are now in a tie for first place and they still seem to be flying under the radar. Personally I think that is a good thing because of years of futility from the Bruins franchise, teams do not take this club too seriously.
